LEGAL LIMITS
Legal limits on consumer credit in Turkey
These are the same tables the Bankacı app uses on its calculation screens, each given with the BDDK Board decision and date it rests on. A limit is a ceiling rather than a prohibition: banks apply their own policy below it.

Maximum term on a personal loan
The larger the loan, the shorter the maximum term. Someone buying a car with cash also takes a personal loan and falls under this table.
| Loan amount | Maximum term |
|---|---|
| 125,000 TL and below | 36 months |
| 250,000 TL and below | 24 months |
| Above 250,000 TL | 12 months |

Vehicle loans: loan-to-value and term
Both the maximum term and the ratio of the loan to the vehicle's invoice value are capped. The limit comes from the vehicle's value, not from the size of the loan.
| Vehicle value | Loan / value | Maximum term |
|---|---|---|
| 400,000 TL and below | %70 | 48 months |
| 800,000 TL and below | %50 | 36 months |
| 1,200,000 TL and below | %30 | 24 months |
| 2,000,000 TL and below | %20 | 12 months |
| Above 2,000,000 TL | No credit available | — |

Electric vehicles: loan-to-value and term
A separate and wider table applies to electric vehicles.
| Vehicle value | Loan / value | Maximum term |
|---|---|---|
| 2,500,000 TL and below | %70 | 48 months |
| 5,000,000 TL and below | %50 | 36 months |
| 6,500,000 TL and below | %30 | 24 months |
| 7,500,000 TL and below | %20 | 12 months |
| Above 7,500,000 TL | No credit available | — |

Housing loans: loan-to-value
The housing limit is set by the value of the property and the class on its energy performance certificate. The loan cannot exceed that share of the property's value.
| Property value | Class A or B | Class C | Other |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5,000,000 TL and below | %90 | %80 | %70 |
| 7,000,000 TL and below | %80 | %70 | %60 |
| 10,000,000 TL and below | %70 | %60 | %50 |
| 20,000,000 TL and below | %50 | %40 | %30 |
| Above 20,000,000 TL | %40 | %30 | %20 |

Frequently asked
What is the maximum term on a 150,000 TRY personal loan?
For personal loans above 125,000 TRY and up to 250,000 TRY the maximum term is 24 months, under BDDK Board decision 11152 of 13.02.2025.
What does loan-to-value mean on a vehicle loan?
It is the loan divided by the vehicle's invoice value. For vehicles at or below 400,000 TRY the ratio is capped at 70%, so a 400,000 TRY car supports at most 280,000 TRY of credit.
Why does the housing limit ask for an energy class?
The BDDK's housing rule sets the loan-to-value ratio by the class on the energy performance certificate: class A and B properties carry a higher ratio.
Do these limits differ from bank to bank?
The limit itself does not, because it is a Board decision. Banks may apply their own policy below it — a bank can offer a shorter term, never a longer one.
Do the same limits apply to business loans?
These tables come from decisions on consumer credit. Bankacı shows no legal limit on business loans: without a verified table, a limit shown would be indistinguishable from an invented one.
